Get Involved!

Here at Prevent Child Abuse America, we work to ensure the healthy development of children nationwide because we recognize that child development is a building block for community development and economic development. We need your help to do our work well, and there are many ways to get involved:

Volunteer at a local state chapter here.

Make an online, one-time donation here to help us provide information, education, and services to families and children and educate policymakers on the importance of preventing child abuse and neglect from ever occurring in the first place.

Become informed on the importance of home visitation services like our signature prevention program, Healthy Families America here.

Host a house party here to raise awareness for child abuse prevention (and have some fun at the same time!)

Learn more on our website here, blog here, or Facebook page here and share with friends

We’re so excited you’re here – thank you for joining us in our efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect before it ever occurs.

Join us for House Party Weekend 2011!

We believe that everyone has a role to play in creating a healthy future for all children.

And one role you can play is joining us for House Party Weekend 2011!

Remember, we're partying until October 16, 2011 at midnight. While supporters across the nation are holding live parties, Prevent Child Abuse America is holding an online party here so anyone can attend, no matter where you live.

Please donate here to our party, invite your friends, and check back for updates on the work we're doing. You can even create your own virtual house party here to raise funds for Prevent Child Abuse America.

Feel like this is too virtual and you'd like to be more involved? Please go here to get all the tools you need to host a live house party.

Please help us achieve our fundraising goal by the end of the weekend here! We hope to raise funds, but more importantly, we hope to increase awareness throughout the nation that everyone has a role to play in the healthy development of all children.

The Time is Now.

The time is now to create equal opportunities for the healthy growth and development of all children. Please join in our House Party Weekend campaign - here - to raise awareness and funds for healthy child development and innovative prevention programming, such as that focused on home visiting and Shaken Baby Syndrome.

With only 20 days left to participate, please help us by hosting a house party - here - or coming to our online virtual party - here. Funds raised will allow prevention services to reach more communities nationwide.

Please celebrate with us - more here. Prevention is possible with effective policies, programs, and commitment to children.

Thanks to individuals like you, we are taking the steps to change the way our country supports children and families. The time is now to double our efforts to create positive change and transform communities. I hope you will join us.

You're invited!

We would like to invite you to Prevent Child Abuse America's Virtual House Party - here!

When? From now until October 16, 2011 at midnight.

Where? Online - here - it's virtual! (Yes, that means you can attend in your pj's.)

Why? To raise awareness and funds for healthy child development and innovative prevention programming.

What should you bring? Just yourself, your commitment to children, and donation at a level that is comfortable for you.

Please help us spread the word by sending an eCard to your friends and family - here!

Thanks again for supporting Prevent Child Abuse America. I know that without supporters like you, the work we do to ensure healthy child development for all children, to prevent child abuse and neglect and to expand the availability of innovative prevention programming, would not get done. Hope to see you at the party - here.

The countdown begins!

It's exactly one month until House Party Weekend, October 14-16, learn more here, where supporters across the nation will hold parties to raise awareness and funds for healthy child development. What does this mean? It means you have one month to organize your party, here, finalize your guest list, and send out the invitations. You have one month to decide to join this unique celebration.

The same goes for us, here at Prevent Child Abuse America. And we're getting the party started a little early. As a national organization with supporters across the country, we're holding a virtual house party, learn more here, that anyone can attend. If you aren't throwing your own party, stop by ours. Please bring your friends, family and neighbors as well! Come one, come all.

We're sending out official invites next week. But for now, this is just a quick reminder. Remember, every child deserves equal opportunities for healthy growth and development. Prevent Child Abuse America works to promote a healthy future for all children every single day. We'd like to celebrate the fact that prevention is possible and that innovative prevention programming like home visiting is happening in communities everywhere. Help us celebrate by hosting a party, or joining ours, here.

Thank you for supporting the work we do. Thank you for helping to make children a national priority.

Summer Barbeques and Kids; More Than Ketchup Stains.

Summer barbeques and kids go hand in hand. Why not turn a barbeque you're already having into a house party that raises awareness and funds for healthy child development? We’ve designated October 14-16 as the weekend for people across the country to host parties supporting children. However, parties can happen anywhere, anytime. You'll be helping to change the way our country values children while having a good time. We just can't promise to get rid of the ketchup stains. We have a goal to raise $30,000 by the end of the weekend, and the great news is, through game watches, brunches, and dinner parties, we’re already a quarter of the way there! Please help us reach our goal by hosting a party, attending a party, or holding a virtual party online. Visit the House Party Weekend website here for more details. Our toolkit, which you can find here, will help you decide on a party idea, fundraising goal, and more. Everyone has a role to play in creating a healthy future for children. Help support Prevent Child Abuse America in a fun and creative way. We want to celebrate children every day of the year.

It's party time! House Party Weekend. October 14-16, 2011.

It's party time! But we're not asking you to get dressed up, buy a table, or come to a fancy gala. We're asking you to have your own party - the way you want it, with your friends - to raise awareness and funds for healthy child development and child abuse prevention.

We're designating October 14-16, 2011, as the weekend for people across the country to host parties supporting kids. However, as you will be hosting or attending these parties, feel free to host a party when it works best for you. We're hoping you'll join thousands of people coast to coast, having parties throughout the year and on that weekend. Our goal is to raise $30,000 by the end of the weekend. Please help us make this happen!

Please visit the House Party Weekend website for more details. We've even built a house party toolkit, so (most of) the work is already done.

We hope you find a way to get involved, as a house party host, guest, or virtual party giver, and have a great time doing it. Because we believe everyone has a role to play in creating a healthy future for children.

We're having fun already.

Help us build the movement for America’s children!

We would like to invite you to provide feedback on two important initiatives this year.

The first is our third annual House Party Weekend. Like the name suggests, Prevent Child Abuse America will be designating the weekend of October 14-16, 2011, as a time for people across the country to host parties to raise awareness of and funding for child abuse prevention. To help make this strategy as effective as it can be, we’d like to ask people to complete a quick five-question electronic survey you can find here. It should only take a few minutes to complete. Results will be collected between now and Friday, March 18. Your input will be most helpful!

We are also going to be unveiling a potentially first of its kind online program this April via the Causes application on Facebook to raise awareness of and funding for our work. To help us make the most of this effort, we’d like to ask people to complete a simple five-question electronic survey which you can find here. Due to the unique nature of this program, we’re going to accept the first 100 completed surveys and then close the link.

Thank you very much for your help. Watch for more details on both programs soon!

Host a Party. Have Fun. Talk Prevention. Raise Money. Join Us For House Party Weekend!

Prevent Child Abuse America invites YOU to participate in a series of events coast–to–coast to raise awareness of and support our mission.

Throughout the year, supporters across the nation will gather in homes, restaurants, clubs, campuses and places of worship to have fun and take action for children.

Where? Nationwide.

PRIVATE PARTIES
Hosted by individuals for friends and family—our goal is to have 150 parties, engaging 3,000 attendees

COMMUNITY EVENTS
Block parties, neighborhood suppers and community concerts

PROMOTIONS BY BUSINESS (bars, restaurants, retailers, et al)
Comprises coupon promotions, percentage of sales, and similar activities, that may extend throughout the year

Why? The House Party Weekend is an opportunity for thousands of people across the nation to share the good news that we CAN prevent the abuse and neglect of our nation’s children – whoever and wherever we are.

How Does It Work? It’s fun, and as simple as you want it to be:

• Hosts will plan and schedule a party on the designated weekend. Our online toolkit will help.

• The online toolkit comprises a sample invitation, party ideas, documentation of tax-exempt status, information about Prevent Child Abuse America for guests to take home, talking points for a brief presentation to your guests, and a video you can show your guests during your party.

• Hosts will set a fundraising goal, and invite their guests at a specific price point. For example, a host might plan an elegant dinner party for 12, and ask for donations of $250 per person, to reach a goal of $2500. With the same goal, another host might prefer an afternoon of college football on campus for 250 friends, with a donation of $10 per person.

• Hosts underwrite all costs associated with the party – Prevent Child Abuse America will credit party expenses as in-kind donations.

• Hosts will be able to set up their own website, send electronic invitations, track their guest list online and allow their guests to pay online by credit card. Guests will also be able to pay by check to Prevent Child Abuse America. Prevent Child Abuse America will provide acknowledgments and receipts for tax purposes to all guests, but hosts will be able to send electronic "thank yous" to guests immediately after registering.

• CELEBRATE – This is a year long opportunity with special emphasis around the weekend of October 23 - 25 where parties will happen throughout the weekend and throughout the country. Prevent Child Abuse America provides all of the tools to help you invite, track and thank your guests. All you have to do is throw the party!

• Hosts will be asked to upload and share party pictures to our Shutterfly account, and to submit all receipts and any donations collected on-site to Prevent Child Abuse America.

Host a party!

Register your party.

Keep updated via our Facebook Group, Twitter, our Blog, or our actofgood.org page.

Can't host a party? No problem. Have a virtual party where you invite your friends to tweet or send you a message on Facebook. You can still raise money and awareness without having a party, just make sure to register your "virtual" party at housepartyweekend.org.

SO GET INVOLVED!!!
Our goal is to have 400 parties taking place across the country between now and the weekend of October 23, the official House Party Weekend, and to raise $40,000 that will help build awareness, provide education to new and expectant parents, influence federal and local legislation around prevention strategies, and inspire hope to everyone involved in the effort to prevent the abuse and neglect of our nation's children.
