We All Play A Role.

For the past ten years I have been honored to be President & CEO of Prevent Child Abuse America. That role is going to change however, because retirement is in my plans for early next year.

The last ten years have seen the incredible expansion of our Healthy Families America home visiting program, now serving 85,000 families each year. Our bullying prevention and child sexual abuse prevention technical assistance services have enhanced the 350 strategies that our 50 state chapters use to support the belief that every child has the right to a great childhood. Without your commitment to this mission, we could not do this.

This very difficult decision has allowed me to reflect not only how important this mission is but how great our supporters are. You have helped prevent the abuse and neglect of our nation's children and for that, I thank you. Your kind, encouraging notes gave me the inspiration to do my job better and for that, I am grateful. You have shown what is possible when people care and that has inspired me.

You have made me believe that prevention is really possible; you have made me believe that people want to make child abuse and neglect not only preventable, but unthinkable; you have made me believe that we all play an important role in each child's life who comes in contact with us.

Thank you for helping me believe that I could do my job; I have not felt alone, because I knew you were there. Please never underestimate the influence your support means to individuals like me.

But there is so much more to be done! Please continue to help our mission achieve the next round of successes to reduce, and ultimately eliminate, child abuse and neglect by making a gift today.

Sincerely,
James M. Hmurovich
President & CEO

P.S. By giving a gift today, you will help ensure that all children have the great childhoods they deserve because our children are our future.

Prevent Child Abuse America and Chartwells K12 Team to Deliver Healthy Meals and Healthy Social Interactions in the Lunchroom.

Prevent Child Abuse America and Chartwells K12 are teaming up to prevent bullying where it often takes place: the lunchroom. The partnership will deliver healthy messages to students alongside the healthy food choices Chartwells serves in 3,800 schools nationwide as part of a peer abuse (commonly known as bullying) prevention campaign. The campaign supports efforts to positively change youth behaviors in light of the more than 70 percent of students who report witnessing bullying on a monthly basis. You can read our full the press release on this exciting new partnership with the Chartwells K12 here.

Keep the Celebration Going!

It's Child Abuse Prevention Month, and throughout the month we're doing everything we can to raise awareness for the importance of healthy starts for children and the role that we all play in children's lives.

With events like our Big Pinwheel Gardens in Chicago and New York City as well as the dozens of events being held by our chapters throughout the month, we're sure to build up some serious momentum this April.

And what better way to keep that momentum going than by learning and networking at The National Conference for America's Children? You can learn more about how to become a better home visitor with sessions on CHEERS, how to take care of yourself with our sessions on Self-Care for the Caregiver, and how you can help prevent bullying and peer abuse, and much much more!

At the Big Pinwheel event in Times Square, actor Josh Charles told us that "we can be the wind" that moves the pinwheel and makes life better for children and families. Be that wind and recognize Child Abuse Prevention Month now  by looking toward the future - register for The National Conference for America's Children at our Early Bird rate today!

What A Year We've Had!

Hello,

The end of the year is quickly approaching and we would like to thank you for your support through the years. Supporters like you are the reason Prevent Child Abuse America is able to continue our work to promote the healthy development of children and their families.

With your help, we have been able to promote over 650 prevention strategies, including the creation of a bullying technical assistance center and a child sexual abuse prevention center.

By speaking with the public and community members, we have been able to address what YOU can do to prevent child abuse and neglect. By taking the time to educate yourself about prevention, volunteering, and raising awareness, you have been keeping the conversation about prevention going in your neighborhood.

With the holiday season upon us, it is important to reflect on the people and experiences that have shaped our lives. By taking this opportunity to make an investment - here - in the prevention of child abuse and neglect in the United States, you can help shape the lives of children throughout the nation.

Warmly,
James M. Hmurovich signature
