We are very excited about the array of interesting healthy child development and prevention activities that happened across the country during April and Child Abuse Prevention Month.
We are also excited to acknowledge and highlight some of that work here on the blog, starting with the work of Twin Cedars Youth & Family Services, Inc., a private non-profit offering an array of services ranging from prevention to residential care in four cities including Columbus, LaGrange and Macon, Georgia and Lee County/Opelika Alabama.
Twin Cedars hosted a range of events including:
A “Superhero Day on Broadway” in Columbus, Georgia which included a 5K/1K Superhero Themed Fun Run, Costume Contest, Sidewalk Chalk Contest, and Vendors that offered free child friendly activities - see photo collage above.
A “Stand Up for Children: There is No Excuse for Child Abuse” event in LaGrange, Georgia, with Governor Nathan Deal’s Wife, Sandra providing a key note address; the official signing of the Child Abuse Protocol for the Troup County Children’s Advocacy Center, with Georgia State Representatives Debbie Buckner and Randy Nix in attendance; and the announcement that Twin Cedars will partner with Troup County Family Connection/ Georgia Center for Child Advocacy to offer Stewards of Children (Darkness to Light) Training in Troup County.
Further, in Opelika, Alabama, The Child Advocacy Center of East Alabama hosted the 3rd Annual Dancing With the Stars Fundraiser which yielded more than $166,000, and included Miss America, Mallory Hagan, who attended the event in support of her mother who was a participant in the competition.
Finally, Lee County CASA in Opelika, Alabama was the recipient of a $9,700 donation from Kappa Alpha Theta Chapter of Auburn University. The sorority, whose national philanthropy is CASA held a kickball tournament to support the ongoing efforts of volunteer who serve as caring and quality advocates for children involved in juvenile court deprivation hearings.

had the honor today to ring the NASDAQ opening bell to "ring in"
Child Abuse Prevention Month and serve as our "call-to-action" for
