"We can be that wind." 2014 Big Pinwheel Garden in Times Square.

With help from actor Josh Charles and Manhattan Magazine's Cristina Cuomo, Prevent Child Abuse America turned the Big Apple into the Big Pinwheel this morning in Times Square! Supported by volunteers from Kohl's and sisters from Kappa Delta and Sigma Delta Tau, thousands of pinwheels were given out in order to help raise awareness of healthy starts for children and Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Known for his roles on The Good Wife, Sports Night, and Dead Poet's Society, actor Josh Charles played a different role this morning, urging people around the nation to step up and support the healthy development of children and prevent child abuse. Speaking about the meaning behind the pinwheel image, Josh told the crowd that "A pinwheel also needs wind. And with our actions, and our intentions, we can be that wind. We have to be those agents of change for the young people and their families in our communities." We're grateful to have Josh Charles as a friend to our organization.

Let's all agree to "be the wind" this April. There's lots of great things going on around the country right now, so let's use that momentum and be bigger advocates and better community members. Learn more about what you can do at the Pinwheels for Prevention website.
