House Party Weekend. And Facebook.

We invite you to join us in taking part in a campaign that is fresh, fun, stylish and productive in raising both awareness and funds to support our mission. From September through the end of the year, supporters across the nation will be hosting parties of all sorts to have fun with friends and family, introduce people to Prevent Child Abuse America and raise funds for the organization. From backyard BBQs to birthday parties to ...community concerts, you may be planning a party for this time frame as well. So this is our invitation to join the movement by simply converting your party into a House Party for Prevent Child Abuse America. Or plan a party from scratch! To learn more on how you can join the movement and host a House Party for Prevent Child Abuse America, please visit our House Party Weekend website and the event section on our House Party Weekend Facebook Fan page as well so you can let us know what you're planning and how we can be of help.

Karma love for Prevent Child Abuse America... Three million times over!

Thanks to many of you, Prevent Child Abuse America has now benefited from the donation of more than three million karmas on the CauseWorld mobile phone application. Each karma has a real world value of one cent, meaning Prevent Child Abuse America has now earned more than $30,000 to date!

Keep the love going! Download the CauseWorld application to your iPhone or droid mobile phone, or keep using the application when you're out and about, and be sure to log in. Again, to use the application is simple:

1) You walk into a store, pull out your phone, and check-in. No purchase required. 2) By checking-in, you earn points (“karmas”) from CauseWorld sponsors. 3) You then donate those points for specific actions to improve the world. For Prevent Child Abuse America, you can help prevent child abuse in America!

And if you’re not into mobile phone apps, that’s cool, too. Keep checking back for new ways to show your support, and be sure to keep inviting your friends to join the Cause. Every person we add is another step toward preventing the abuse and neglect of our nation’s children.

Thanks for your support!

Prevent Child Abuse America in The Miami Herald.

Following last week's appearances by Prevent Child Abuse America President & CEO James M. Hmurovich in a variety of media outlets, we are pleased to let you know that Prevent Child Abuse America has been quoted in a recent article in The Miami Herald regarding Miami Beach's new law banning anyone eighteen or older without a child from playgrounds in Miami Beach.

Ben Tanzer, a spokesman for Prevent Child Abuse America, is ambivalent about the approach. It's hard to argue with any policy that could protect kids, Tanzer said, but the no-adults policy could contribute to a needless and unhealthy fear of strangers.

"Children are mostly abused by family and friends, not by strangers,'' Tanzer said. "We want kids to be safe . . . but there is a much larger dialogue that needs to take place between adults and their children.'"
